Guten Abend!
So ist der zweite Buch von die Finnische Kranhistorische Gemeinde erhältlich. :-)
The next book is about towercranes made by Betox.
This book is also written in both Finnish and English.
"The Story of Betox Tower Cranes Now in Book Form The Association of Crane and Lifting Equipment Enthusiasts, Nosturihistoriallinen Seura ry (The Crane History Society), founded in 2020, has published its second book. The new work, Betox – The Finnish Tower Crane, tells the success story of a domestic crane product that has never before been documented. The story of Betox cranes dates back to 1954, when Rakennusväline Oy was founded. The company manufactured construction equipment for the concrete industry and, between 1958 and 1964, produced 104 Linden D25/25 tower cranes under license. Before launching its own production, the company also manufactured other licensed models. The first Betox 80/100 model 025 was completed in 1968, marking the beginning of the success story of the Finnish tower crane. The last crane produced by Betox Oy, the Betox 300, was released in 1991. The economic recession of the 1990s ended crane production, and in 1995 the company was sold to A-Rakennusmies Oy, which did not continue Betox crane manufacturing. The book is written by Taisto Rintamaa, with Jari Pakkala serving as the technical expert. Pakkala, who has decades of experience with tower cranes, explains the significance of the book: “When A-Nosturimiehet Oy once acquired Insinööritoimisto Hietala Oy’s Betox materials, the last employee of the firm, Reijo Aalto, who handed them over, said: ‘Here lies the life’s work of a few people.’ This book is the best possible tribute to that work, and that’s why I wanted to be involved.” According to the authors, finding source material was challenging. Some commercial archives were lost during corporate mergers, but instruction manuals, brochures, and original drawings were preserved. In addition, interviews with industry professionals provided valuable insights. Together, these formed a book that offers new and detailed content for both professionals and enthusiasts. “The book project began as soon as we noticed the growing interest in crane history. The popularity of the Lokomo book gave us both motivation and financial support. Our goal was to produce a technically precise book that also includes colorful stories,” says Rintamaa. The book is bilingual, with stories presented in both Finnish and English. The publication has already attracted considerable interest. The first edition consists of 500 copies. The book’s modern layout and detailed content have received praise. The book is sold by Nosturihistoriallinen Seura ry. The price is €35 + shipping, and it can be ordered from the association’s secretary.
