Walter had a few specialised trucks of which the pair of GMC trucks in his fleet gave years of sterling service, in all maner of situations, here are a couple of shots.

Hello again,As a crane company there are lifts that I call run of the mill, or normal lifts, every now and then you get to pick up something out of the ordinary, here are a couple of slightly unusual loads from Walters archive.

Walters cranes spent quite alot of time in and out of Liverpool docks, either working in the docks directly or loading vessels, here are a couple of pictures.

Hello ,the Lorain MC875 that Walter Woolfenden had in his fleet was 1 of only 4 machines that were in the UK.
Sparrows x1, Fairclough x2, Hardwicks x1, the machine that Walter Woolfenden had was the Ex Hardwicks machine. Sadly I have never found any good photo's of the 2 Fairclough machines but here are the others.

Just to doublecheck (and I think you mentioned it before): The 2nd cab on the right side was upfitted later on to the MC 875 ?

Thanks for all your great pictures.

Best regards, Hendrik

Hi Hendrik,
All the Lorain MC875's only had one cab from manufacture. The Sparrows cab is also a later addition.
The picture of the plain unliveried Lorain I have just posted was Jack Hardwicks crane ( later Walter Woolfendens) on it's very first job in the UK before it was painted and also had the second crew cab fitted. Both Sparrows and Jack Hardwicks crane have slightly different profiles to each other . I have never found out who fitted these cabs.
Sadly the two Fairclough machines I have never seen documented with good enough pictures, but I believe these two cranes were operated with single cabs, I would love to eventually find photo's of these cranes.
Best regards
Graham

Nice pictures again! This hydrocon had his boom sections "on board". I wonder how they handle that with the sections to make the boom longer. I think, they don´t need a second crane for that...?? (sorry for my terrific english)

Hi Andre, sorry for the slow reply, no second crane was required for the deployment of the complete boom sections, I know on the Whitlock crane,( similar to the Hydrocon ), they had a special winch to offload the sections onto the ground. The Hydrocon, Winget and similar cranes all used the crane to build itself.

It is a while since last posting anything, so here are a few more.

I hope I have not posted these before
