Two years ago my wife and I came across an opportunity to buy a house (the one we have now) and it was too good to pass up. So rather unexpectedly we had to pack and move. With that move all cranes were put away. As it was the long week end again, I decided to put back up my very first repaint ever and the last of my crawler cranes not out of the box, the Terex Demag CC8800. Here is the story:
One day, minding my own business, and still trying to figure out why people customized already great looking models, I came across a post on DHS of the CC8800 done in Mammoet livery. A quick search of the internet (well okay a couple of days worth) reveled several others that had been done this model as well. Through the form I contacted the painter (who by the way now works for Mammoet in Canada) asked for his help and like many of you know on forums, got it. It is amazing, he sent me a disk and spent time on the phone and hooked me up with decals. It’s all his fault!
Yup, this was my first repaint ever. I figured if I was going to repaint anything, it might as well be a $1000 worth of model. I started off with just a boom section and meet success. So onward and upward, literally. Being the organized individual I was, I started with the bottom of the three trays and worked my way up!
With another long holiday weekend here and after admiring the 1750 so much, I pulled this monster back out and got it put back up. As always when I do this stuff, I have my wife’s very complicated camera handy so I snapped few pictures to share.
You all have a Happy New Year and be Safe! Keep a good thought in our hearts for all those in need.
