This was made by a collector in Australia:

Zitat:
I made the Boom Booster out of several Aluminum profiles which I sourced from the local hardware and hobby shops. The frame was drilled to allow for the cord connections and to provide some structural integrity. all the pieces were then glued together using JB Weld which is a 2 pack epoxy resin developed there in the states.

The Boom Booster took me 50 hours to build and was pretty straight forward, its was just a matter of drilling and cutting everything to the right size.

I made it as one piece for strength as it has to hold a lot of weight. The BB itself weighs 2.5 kg and with all the extra boom sections (11 @ 12m and 1 @ 6 m) it needs to support another 3kg, plus the hook fitted with YCC brass pulleys. I was fortunate enough to get an extra 6 boom sections from Conrad which apparently was the last of them which I had to pay for and also purchased 2 luffing jib kits with the model. This allows me to set it up to max configuration with standard boom section and with the BB. It's a long story how I came to get all the extra sections but it came down to being persistent.

I fitted it out with the YCC pennant lines as I have little faith in the plastic Conrad ones.

The only tools I used were a cheap drill press to drill the holes for accuracy, hack saw for cutting the aluminum to length, hand files for shaping, a couple of clamps and masking tape to hold it all together while the glue dried. The key to it all is patience and cutting/drilling accuracy.
