Can anyone advise when the five largest Rosenkranz cranes were built?

I thought the original Baldwins machine was rated at 450t. Was I wrong?

Sometimes I am sure one sees a crane identified as a Krupp when I am sureit must be a Rosie. Has anyone any idea why this was done. Did the operator think it made it sound more reliable???

The Rosenkranz cranes were built from Krupp (boom), Demag (upper works), Faun and Scheuerle (carrier/chassis).
After the bankrupty of BOHNE-Group, Krupp take over the engineering of the cranes and give it the new name 500 GG, 600 GG and 1000 GG

The K 10001 is from 1971
The K 6001 from end of 60ies, i'm not sure, but i think 1968/69
K 5001 to 5003 from 1972-1974

So they didn`t work their way up to the biggie! The K6001 must have been a big leap in technology at that time. Coles in the UK only hit the 100ton mark in 1965 with the Centurion.

1) K10001: Planned as a 700-750 t crane, but finally launched as a 1000 t crane in 1971.

2) K6001: Launched as a 500 t crane end of 1968. Upgraded to 600 t beginning of 1973.

3) 3 x K5000: Planned as a 400 t crane, launched as a 480 t crane (BAUMA '73), upgraded to 500 t during 1973. All three K5000 have been built in 1973.

The K6001 (K5001 between 1969 and 1973) was the biggest crane of the world! And since 1971 Rosenkranz operated again the world's biggest crane, the first 1000 t crane ever.

Gottwald launched their first 500 t crane in 1972 (MK 650, e.g. "Olympiakran"), but one year later Rosie was upgraded to 600 t.

The world's second 1000 t crane was Gottwalds MK 1000 in 1980.

la la la la

uhm... why are you asking? *grin*

i have seen a great picture of the Senn AG Colossus, at that time the biggest mobile crane of Europe! i won´t reveal what it is lifting, because it will spoil the great surprise, but i told Mr. Jörg Senn to open a historical section on the company homepage. it is really worth it and i hope he does that soon. he has a absolutely fabulous collection of old photographs of Senn AG cranes. right up your alley Hendrik.

more to come soon i hope
